Zila Parishad member suspended for plundering relief

The local government, rural development and cooperatives ministry has suspended Kishoreganj Zila Parishad member for his involvement in irregularities in distribution of relief materials, reports UNB.

The ministry issued a gazette notification in this regard on Tuesday.

The punitive action was taken against Mohammad Quamruzzaman, member of ward No. 7 of the Zila Parishad.

According to the notification, a case was filed with Katiadi model police station against Quamruzzaman on charge of plundering relief materials. He was also found involved in relief distribution and packaging irregularities, leading to his arrest.

On 18 April, Kishoreganj Zila Parishad authorities brought the matter to the notice of the local government division through a letter.
