Rail link with Sylhet cut off

Rail communications between Sylhet and the rest of the country snapped following the derailment of four bogies of the Surma Mail at Shibbari in Sylhet on Wednesday noon, reports UNB.

The accident took place while the train was entering the outer signal area of Sylhet railway station around 1:30pm, said station officer Md Shajahan.

Meanwhile, Kushiyara Express from Akhaura was trapped near the station creating immense suffering to the commuters, he added.

Authorities concerned have taken necessary steps to restore the rail communication, said the railway official.
