AL to finalise seat sharing tonight

Ruling Bangladesh Awami League has almost finalised sharing of seats with the partners of grand alliance keeping 240 seats for their party candidates for the upcoming parliamentary elections.

AL general secretary Obaidul Quader said this at a press briefing at the party’s Dhanmondi office in the capital on Friday.

He said Workers Party will get five seats, while JaSad (Inu) three, JaSada (Ambia) one, Tariqat Federation two and Jatiya Party (JP) two seats. Besides, former dictator Ershad-led Jatiya Party will get 40-42 seats in the elections, Quader said.

Another partner of the grand alliance Jukta (United) Front will get three seats. Rest of the seats will also be finalised by tonight, he added.

The AL leader said the list of candidates for 300 seats will be handed over to the party president Sheikh Hasina tonight and she will finalise the list.

Quader said the alliance partners can compete in the election with their party symbol.

The ruling party is issuing letters to the party candidates from its office.
