Bangladesh politician trampled dead by elephant in India

A central leader of Jatiya Samajtantrik Dal (JaSad) was trampled to death by a wild elephant in Darjeeling of India on Friday, reports UNB.

The deceased is Syed Saimun Kanak, media affairs secretary of JaSad and son of former executive president of the party's central committee late Nur Alam Ziku. He used to live at Sadarghat-Wise Ghat area in Old Dhaka.

Kushtia district unit Jasad president Golam Mohsin confirmed the incident.

Quoting Kanak's wife Mala Saimun, he said that Kanak was killed in the attack of a wild elephant at Dooars in Darjeeling in the afternoon.

The body will be brought home today after conducting an autopsy and he will be buried in Dhaka, he said.

Kanak went to India with his wife on 20 January to visit Dooars.
