3 burnt to death as microbus catches fire

Three persons were burnt to death while two others sustained injuries after the microbus they were travelling stuck with a covered van and caught fire on Dhaka Chittagong highway in Mirsarai upazila of Chattogram on Tuesday.

Mirsarai fire service official Rabiul Islam confirmed the accident.

"The identity of the victims could not be known immediately," he added.

Both the vehicles were heading to Chattogram. At one stage, the covered van hit the microbus and its bumper got stuck with the microbus, according to the police and fire service officials.

The microbus caught fire when the covered van dragged it to at least 100 metres on the street leaving its three passengers dead and two others injured, they added.

The injured were sent to Mirsarai Upazila Health Complex.
