Three workers were killed and six others injured as a truck plunged into a roadside ditch in Khelsi area of Shariatpur sadar upazila on Saturday night.

The deceased are Md Rahmat Hossain, 40, Naim Hossain, 25, and Idris, 60, from Chetua area in Ashasuni upazila of Satkhira district, reports UNB.

The injured workers said that they had come to Shariatpur from Satkhira on 24 April for cultivating paddy.

The paddy-laden truck carrying 12 workers plunged into a roadside ditch after its driver lost control over the wheels, leaving three dead on the spot around 10:30am, said Shariatpur fire service and civil defence deputy assistant director Niaz Mohammad.

The injured were admitted at Shariatpur Sadar Hospital, he added.
