5 sentenced to death for murder in Faridpur

A Faridpur court on Sunday sentenced five people to death for killing a man in 2014, reports UNB.

The convicts are Akash, 18, son of Ismail Sheikh, Saiful Sheikh, 27, son of Kamal Sheikh, ZahidKha, 27, son of ShobhaKha, Hashem Sheikh, 35, son of Kitab Ali and Jewel Bepari, 32, son of Alim Bepari of Sadar uapzila.

According to the prosecution, Zahidul Islam Khan, 30 of Dhuldi Razapur village in Sadar upazila was killed by the convicts following a conflict over playing cards at West Gangabordi area in the district town on 21 December 2014.

Jesmin Begum, wife of the victim, filed a case with Faridpur Kotwali police station on 23 December.

After examining the records and witnesses, district and sessions judge Selim Mia handed down the verdict.
