Six people, including four members of a family, were killed by lightning strikes in Chandpur and Magura districts on Sunday, according to UNB.

In Chandpur, four members of a family, including two children, were killed when a thunderbolt struck them at Boro Station Molhead in the district town.

The deceased were Wahida Begum, 55, wife of Sultan Mia, their daughter Rehana Begum, 27, wife of Saiful Islam, and Rehana’s son Sabbir, 8 and daughter Samia, 10 of Kachua upazila.

Quoting relatives of the victims' family, additional superintendent of Chandpur police Mizanur Rahman, said a streak of thunderbolt struck the four while they were visiting a tourist spot around 1:30pm, leaving them injured.

Later, they were taken to Chandpur General Hospital where the physicians declared them dead.

Deputy commissioner of the district, Majedur Rahman Khan, visited the spot and gave Tk 30,000 to the family.

In Magura, two people were killed in separate incidents of lightning strike in Mohammadpur and Sadar upazilas of the district on Sunday.

Sirajul Islam, officer-in-charge of Sadar police station, said Moslem Molla, 60 of Bashtoil village, was killed as a thunderbolt struck him while he was bringing goats from a nearby field in the afternoon.

Besides, Tarok Nath Biswas, officer-in-charge of Mohammadpur police station, said Biplab Biswas, 30, son of Khasruzzaman of Jhama village, was killed by lightning while working on the rooftop of an under- construction building in the afternoon.
