5th parliament session prorogued

The brief 5th session of the 11th Parliament was prorogued on Thursday after five sittings that passed three bills. 


Speaker Dr Shirin Sharmin Chaudhury read out the prorogation order of the president that began on 7 November, reports UNB.

During the session, some 146 notices were placed under Section 71 of the rules of procedure, of which three were received and one was discussed in the House.

Besides, 30 notices were discussed under Section 71 (Ka) of the rules of procedure.

A total of 69 questions were received for prime minister Sheikh Hasina, of which she replied to 17 in the 5th session.

The session received a total of 1605 questions for different ministers with the ministers replying to 670 of them.

It also adopted a historic motion declaring a planetary emergency on account of the existential crisis of climate change and calling on the global community to act urgently and decisively in achieving the net zero (carbon) emissions well before 2050.
