Prime minister Sheikh Hasina inaugurated the 7th national congress of the Bangladesh Awami Jubo League, the youth front of ruling Bangladesh Awami League (AL), in the capital city on Saturday morning, reports UNB.

The prime minister opened the triennial national council of Jubo League by hoisting the national flag, and releasing pigeons and balloons at the historic Suhrawardy Udyan at 11:00am.

Some 28,000 councillors from 77 organising districts across the country are taking part in the council that is being presided over by Jubo League convener.

New leaders of the Jubo League will be elected at the council session at the Institution of Engineers, Bangladesh (IEB) auditorium in Dhaka in the afternoon.

Sheikh Fazlul Haque Moni had formed Bangladesh Awami Jubo League on 11 November 1972 at the directive of father of the nation Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman.
