3 JMB men get death penalty for murder in Chapainawabganj

A Chapainawabganj court on Monday sentenced three members of banned militant outfit Jama’atul Mujahideen Bangladesh (JMB) to death and four others to life term imprisonment for killing a man in 2012, reports UNB.

The condemned convicts are-Sanwar Hossain, Jahangir Alam of Nachole upazila and AbdusS hukur of Gomostapur upazila.

The lifers are-Shamsul Alam, Saiful Islam, Mohamamd Shamim of Gomostapur upazila and Abdul Motakabbir alias Bulbul of Manda upaizla in Naogaon district.

According to the prosecution, Ruhul Amin alias Salman, son of Asgar Ali, a resident of Dhanmondi area, was hacked to death by the convicts over internal feud on 26 April, 2012 at a mango orchard in Nachole upazila.

A case was filed with Nachole police station. On 29 August, 2015, police submitted chargesheet against them.

After examining records and witnesses, Chapainawabganj additional district and sessions judge Shawkat Ali handed down the verdict.
