A student of Eden Mohila College, who was wounded after falling from a motorcycle along Bijoy Sarani, Dhaka on 30 November, has died at Dhaka Medical College and Hospital (DMCH) on early Monday.

The victim Aklima Akter, 25, died around 6:00am while she was undergoing treatment at the Intensive Care Unit (ICU) of the hospital.

Aklima sustained serious injuries after she fell from an Uber motorbike around 7:30am on Saturday, Aklima's father Abul Kalam told Prothom Alo adding that she was taken to a local private hospital. She was later shifted to DMCH, he said.

Aklima came from Sundarpur village in Chatkhil, Noakhali. She stayed in the city's Kazipara area with her family. She taught at a coaching centre at Farmgate, according to the family.

"Aklima rode on the bike for going to the coaching centre. It stopped at a signal at Bijay Sarani. She fell down on the ground when the bike started again following another signal," Abul Kalam said. "Her helmet broke, but apparently she had no injury marks," he said.

Aklima's body has been kept at the DMCH morgue, said Abdul Khan, assistant sub-inspector of police at DMCH police camp.

The victim's family will not file any case over the death as they wanted her body to be buried without an autopsy, Kalam said.
