Three including cop killed in separate road crashes

Two people, including an assistant sub-inspector (ASI) of police, were killed when a Dhaka-bound car fell into a pond in Chelerghat of Trishal upazila in Mymensingh early Tuesday

The deceased were Aminul Islam, 32 and his brother-in-law Jahidul Islam, 27.

Azizur Rahman, officer-in-charge of Trishal police station, said the Dhaka-bound car from Mymensingh overturned and fell into the pond around 3:00am, leaving the duo dead on the spot.

On information, Trishal Fire Brigade members recovered the bodies, the OC added.

The bodies were kept at Trishal police station.

In another road crash, a college boy was killed as his motorbike crashed into the gate of a roadside house in Char Joypara village in Dohar upazila of Keraniganj on Monday night.

The deceased was Md Jahidul Islam Antar, 22, son of Md Nasir Ahmed, of Paschim Sutarpara village and a first year honours student of Joypara College.

The motorbike Antar was riding with two of his friends, crashed into the gate around 9:00pm in the area, leaving three of them severely injured, said, Mofazzel, sub-inspector of Dohar police station.

Locals took them to Upazila Health Complex where the physicians declared Antar dead, the SI added.

The SI said two others -- Badhon, 22 and Nipu, 21 -- were taken to Dhaka Medical College Hospital after their condition deteriorated.
