Pedestrian killed in road accident

A pedestrian has been killed in a road accident in Sherpur, Bogura.

The deceased was identified as Mohir Uddin, 60, from Hapunia village, Garidah in Sherpur.

Mohir Uddin was crossing the Dhaka-Bogura Highway when a Dhaka-bound truck hit him at College road area around 5:30am on Monday, according to witnesses.

He was reportedly dead on the spot.

On information, the body of the victim was recovered from the spot, said Sherpur upazila fire service official Ratan Hossain.

The driver of the truck fled the scene with his vehicle following the incident, assistant sub inspector of Kundarhat police outpost, Abdur Rahim, said.

Steps have been taken to spot the vehicle, he added.
