2 held over ‘gang-rape’ of RMG worker

Two men were arrested on Tuesday in connection with the ‘gang-rape’ of a female garment worker at Aati Housing in Siddhirganj upazila of Narayanganj, reports UNB.

The arrestees were identified as Sohan Hawaladar, 21, son of Galachipa upazila in Patuakhali, and Mehedi Hasan, 19, son of Gias Uddin of Daudkandi upazila in Cumilla.

Md Quamrul Hasan, officer-in-charge of Siddhirganj Police Station, said Sohan had developed a love affair with the girl, 21, while working at the same garment factory.

He took the girl to his sister’s flat on a promise to discuss about their marriage where Sohan first and later Mehedi allegedly raped her on 19 December.

Later, the victim filed a case with the police station on Monday night. Police arrested the duo.
