Detective Branch of police on Wednesday arrested ruling Awami League MP Manjurul Islam of Gaibandha 1 constituency at Uttara in Dhaka in connection with Gaibandha school boy shooting.
Home minister Asaduzzaman Khan Kamal confirmed the news to the Prothom Alo.
On 2 October, lawmaker Manjurul Islam allegedly shot a minor boy, Shahadat Hossain Shourav, in the leg with a pistol at Gopalcharan village of Sundarganj in Gaibandha.
Locals said stray bullets from the pistol of the local MP struck Sourav when Manjurul was going to his Bamondanga village home driving his own car, leaving the boy injured.
A case was filed against Manjurul on the day in this connection. He went into hiding since then.
