Sylhet-3 by-elections on 4 September

The by-elections of Sylhet-3 constituency will be held on 4 September, election commission secretary Md Humayun Kabir Khandaker confirmed the development to the media following a meeting on Monday.

The election was supposed to be held on 28 July. But the court barred the election in an order on 27 July.

Although the meeting has decided to hold the Sylhet-3 by elections on 4 September, it didn’t take any decision as to the local government elections including the union parishad (UP).

Elections of a total of 204 UPs were held in June last year in the first phase. But the polls of another 167 UPs were postponed at the time due to Covid-19 pandemic.
