Two killed in Chandpur violence

Two people have been killed in violence during the union parishad (UP) elections in Chandpur.

The incidents took place separately in Sachar union of Kachua upazil and Nilkamal union of Haimchar upazila between 3:00pm and 3:30pm on Wednesday.

One of deceased is Sharif Hossain, 18, from Sachar union of Kachua upazila. Details of another deceased could not be known immediately.

Chandpur’s superintended of police Milon Mahmud confirmed the deaths of two people.

Police said miscreants stabbed Sharif Hossain, a supporter of Sachar UP member candidate Zakir Hossain, in Nayakandi area of the union around 3:30pm, leaving him injured. He succumbed to his injuries on the way to Dhaka for better treatment.

In Haimchar, another youth, who was a supporter of Nilkamal UP chairman candidate Salauddin Sardar, was stabbed in Baherchar area of the union around 3:00pm. He died on the way to hospital. Details of the deceased could not be known immediately.
