Investigate allegations of fertiliser worth Tk 5.82b being embezzled: High Court

The High Court on Thursday ordered the Anti-Corruption Commission (ACC) to investigate the allegation of fertiliser worth Tk 5.82 billion being embezzled and not taken to the government warehouse after being released from the port.

The top court also ordered the ACC to submit the investigation report within 60 days.

A High Court bench of Justice Md Nazrul Islam and Justice Khijir Hayat passed the order along with issuing a suo-muto rule.

Earlier, a report titled “Fertiliser worth Tk 5.82b embezzled” was published in Prothom Alo on Thursday and lawyer Khurshid Alam brought the report to the court’s attention.

Deputy attorney general AKM Amin Uddin represented the state at the court.
