The ongoing restrictions in the border district of Chapainawabganj have been extended until 23 June. Deputy commissioner Manjurul Hafiz made the announcement at a press briefing on Wednesday evening.

The DC said that the ongoing restrictions reduced the infection rate but it is yet to reach a satisfactory level.

Besides, the infection rates went down in nearby districts like Rajshahi, Naogaon and Natore and that's why the restrictions were extended till 23 June.

In the last 24 hours, the coronavirus infection rate in Chapainawabganj district was 13.02 per cent.

On 25 May due to the sudden rise in the coronavirus infection rate in the district lockdown was imposed for two consecutive weeks. To further control the infection rate strict restrictions were imposed from 8 to 16 June.
