S Alam Group chairman's mother, son test COVID-19 positive
S Alam Group chairman Saiful Alam Masud's mother and son have contracted coronavirus after death of his elder brother Morshedul Alam on Friday night.
Saiful’s mother Chemon Ara begum, 85, and son Ahsanul Alam, 26, tested coronavirus positive on Saturday after their samples were tested at Bangladesh Institute of Tropical and Infectious Diseases in Chattogram.
They were shifted to the capital’s Anwer Khan Modern Hospital on Saturday night for better treatment.
Earlier on 17 May, six of the family including five brothers tested coronavirus positive. Elder brother Morshedul Alam died while undergoing treatment at General Hospital on Friday night.
Other infected members of the country's leading business conglomerate family are vice chairman Abdus Samad, directors Rashedul Alam, Shahidul Alam, Osman Gani and one of their sister-in-law Farjana Begum.
Family sources said Saiful Alam and his wife are staying at Singapore right now.
