US congratulates Bangladesh on Padma Bridge

The United States has congratulated Bangladesh on the momentous opening of the Padma Multipurpose Bridge on Saturday.

The United States embassy in Dhaka has sent a press release dated 24 June congratulating the people of Bangladesh upon successful completion of the mega-project.

“The United States congratulates Bangladesh on the momentous opening of the Padma Bridge. Building sustainable transportation infrastructure to connect people and goods efficiently is important to fostering inclusive economic growth. The Padma Bridge will create new and important linkages within Bangladesh, boosting commerce and improving the quality of life,” reads the press release.

“It is also another example of Bangladesh’s leadership in promoting regional connectivity in South Asia,” the US embassy press release adds.

Prime minister Sheikh Hasina today inaugurated the much-awaited Padma Bridge in Munshiganj’s Mawa end.

The bridge, built at a cost of Tk 301.93 billion (30,193.39 crore), will bring massive progress in road connectivity of 21 south and south-western districts with the capital Dhaka and other major cities.
