Cyclone Sitrang claims 35 lives

At least 35 people have reportedly died in 14 districts due to the impact of cyclone Sitrang till 5:00pm on Tuesday.

Among the districts, Mirsharai in Chattogram saw the highest numbers of deaths from this powerful cyclone.

Eight workers died after a sand mining dredger sank in the Sandwip channel of the Bay of Bengal in Mirsharai.  

Apart from them, four people died in Bhola and Tangail each, three in Cumilla, two in Gopalganj, Munshiganj, Sirajganj and Cox’s Bazar each and one in Narail, Barguna, Noakhali, Shariatpur, Patualhali, Brahmanbaria, Jhalakhati and Gazipur each.

Of them, 18 were men, 10 women and seven children.
