Muzaffer, Swadesh to get BB Award
Bangladesh Bank has decided to confer the 'Bangladesh Bank Award-2013' on Professor Muzaffer Ahmad and Swadesh Ranjan Bose (posthumous) for their distinctive and remarkable contributions to the field of development economics.
A jury board comprised of five prominent economists of the country, led by the Bangladesh Bank governor, has nominated the two prominent economists for the award.
Bangladesh Bank Award was conferred on Prof Rehman Sobhan in 2000, Nurul Islam in 2009 and Prof Mosharaff Hossain in 2011.
Both Prof Muzaffer Ahmad and Swadesh Ranjan Bose (posthumous) will jointly be awarded through a ceremony scheduled to be held at AKN Ahmed auditorium, Bangladesh Bank Training Academy, Mirpur-2 on August 20.
Finance minster AMA Muhith will be present at the ceremony as the chief guest. A gold medal, Tk 1 lakh and a Bangladesh Bank award plaque will be handed over to each of the heir of the awarded economists.
