BSTI asks 31 companies to supply quality food in Ramadan

The Bangladesh Standards and Testing Institution (BSTI) has urged 31 companies to manufacture and market quality food items in the upcoming Ramadan, reports BSS.

The 31 manufacturers have fast moving food items widely consumed during seheri and iftar in the fasting month of Ramadan, said industries ministry press release issued today.

In this regard, BSTI sent letters to 20 manufactures on Sunday and to 11 more companies today.

BSTI will also write to other manufacturers with the same request.

According to the BSTI, the demand for 181 products shoots up in the holy month of Ramadan.

The items include mineral water, soft-drinks powder, fruit syrup, fruit juice, carbonated beverage, ghee, vermicelli, noodles, pasteurized milk, ice-cream, fortified soybean and sunflower oil.

Manufacturers who have received the letter are: PRAN Foods Limited, Shabnam Vegetable Oil Limited, Akij Foods and Beverage Limited, Transcom Beverage Limited, Super Oil Refinery Limited, City Group, Brac Dairy and Food Project, Tanveer Foods Limited, Bangladesh Milk Producer’s Cooperative Union Limited, Bangladesh Edible Oil Limited, New Zealand Dairy Limited, ACI Group, Nestle Bangladesh, Bashundhara Multi Food and Beverage Limited, Abul Khayer Group, Square Foods Ltd, Bangladesh Super Shop Owners Association, BD Foods Limited, Swiss Bakery, Sajib Corporation, Denish Food Limited, Vitalac Dairy and Food Industries Limited, Prince Food Products Limited, ACI Logistics Limited (Shawpno), Mina Sweets and Confectionary Limited, Pertex Food and Beverage Limited, Deshbondhu Food and Beverage Limited, Olympic Industries Limited, Well Food and Beverage Company Limited, Rosh Limited and Omega Distribution Limited.
