Banks to remain closed next Sunday, Wednesday

All banks will remain closed on 1 August (Sunday) and 4 August (Wednesday) during the ongoing restrictions.

Banking hours will be increased by 1 hour on 2, 3 and 5 August (Monday, Tuesday and Thursday).

The Bangladesh Bank offsite supervision department issued a circular to this end on Wednesday.

BB offsite supervision department general manager Anwarul Islam told Prothom Alo a decision has been taken to keep banks shut for two more days other than the weekend due to rise in coronavirus infection.

The ongoing strictest-Covid restrictions began across the country on 23 July and will be in force till 5 August.

Banks are operating from 10:00am to 1:30am daily while factories and offices remain closed during the on-going restrictions.
