200 artistes to perform in Folk Fest
Asia’s grandest folk music festival, the Dhaka International Folk Festival, will be returning for its fifth edition in November, it was announced on Wednesday through a press conference in the capital.
This year’s folk fest will be held over three days from November 14th to 16th at Bangladesh Army Stadium- every day from 6:00pm to 12:00pm.
More than 200 folk artistes from 6 countries including Bangladesh are scheduled to participate in this year’s folk fest, an initiative of the Sun Foundation.
From Bangladesh, performers such as Shah Alam Sarkar, Malek Qawaal, Kazal Dewan, Fakir Shahabuddin, Chandana Majumdar, Bauliana’s Kamruzzaman Rabbi and Shafiqul Islam, Prema and Vabna dance team will perform in the fest, while famous Indian singer Daler Mehendi, popular Pakistani band Junoon and artist Hina Nasirullah, Russia’s popular band Sattuma, Chveneburebi from Georgia and Malian musician, singer, songwriter Habib Koite along with his band Bamada are scheduled to appear in this year’s line-up.
