Andrew Kishore in critical condition, says physician

Renowned playback singer Andrew Kishore, who has been battling cancer for months, is now in a critical condition as his condition deteriorated further.

The singer has recently returned home from Singapore after months of treatment there. He is now undergoing treatment at his birth place, Rajshahi.

“I’m just sitting beside him. His is in a critical condition. He is going through so much pain. Everybody, please pray for him,” said the singer’s family physician who declined to mention his name.

Asked about the death rumour of Andrew Kishore, he said, “At the moment, we’re under so much mental pressure due to his health condition. Such rumours will increase mental pressure on us. We plea not to spread such rumours.”

Andrew Kishore was taken to Singapore for treatment on 9 September last year. He was diagnosed with Non-Hodgkin’s Lymphoma, a form of blood cancer. His treatment started at the Singapore general Hospital. He has recently returned home after receiving treatment for several months.

Andrew Kishore was born and brought up in Rajshahi. He later came to the capital city and established him as a famous singer.

The singer entered the film industry with the song ‘Achinpurer rajkumari nei je tar keu’ composed by Alam Khan for the film ‘Mail Train’ in 1977. The artiste recorded thousands of songs for hundreds of films as a playback singer.

His famous songs include 'Jibaner galpo achhe baki olpo', 'Amar shara deho kheyo go mati', 'Dak diyachhen doyal amare', 'Bhalobese gelam shudhu', 'Amar buker moddhey khaney', 'Amar babar mukhey prothom jedin' and 'Bhengechhe pinjore', among many others.
