Barin Mazumder music fest to begin

A two-day music festival marking the birth anniversary of renowned musician Barin Mazumder will be held at the Government Music College compound in Dhaka from 14 February.

Artistes including the students of the music college will perform at the festival.

Classical music along with folk songs, band music and so on will be performed.

This time the Barin Mazumder award will be conferred upon Nazrul Sangeet singer Khalid Hossain.

Barin Mazumder was born in Radhanagar of Pabna in 1921. He was a professor at Bulbul Lalitakala Academy.

The Government Music College was founded at the initiative of Barin Mazumder in Agargaon of the capital.

He was married to classical musician Ila Mazumder.

The Ekushey Padak winner passed away in 2000.
