Over 37-kg tortoise rescued in Thakurgaon

A tortoise weighing about one maund (just over 37 kg) has been rescued from Tamlai area of Pirganj upazila of Thakurgaon, reports UNB.

Locals said they spotted the tortoise near the pond of one Abu Raihan in the area.

The upazila administration rescued the tortoise and handed over to the forest department office in Dinajpur.

Rezaul Karim, the upazila nirbahi officer, also confirmed the matter.

It is unclear how the tortoise came to the area.
