Rain may increase in next 5 days: Met Office

Bangladesh Meteorological Department (BMD) on Monday forecast that rainfall activity will increase over the next five days all over the country commencing 6pm today.

"Southwest monsoon is fairly active over Bangladesh and moderate to strong over North Bay," it said in a bulletin.

Light to moderate rain or thunder showers accompanied by temperature gusty or squally wind is likely to occur at many places over Khulna, Barishal, Chattogram and Rangpur divisions and at a few places over Rajshahi, Dhaka, Mymensingh and Sylhet divisions with moderately heavy to heavy falls at places over the country, the Met Office said.

Meanwhile, wind direction and speed in Dhaka will be at south/southeasterly (6-12kph) with temporary gusting to 30kph, it said.

Day and night temperature may remain nearly unchanged over the country, the Met Office said.

The maximum temperature on Sunday was recorded 35.3 degree Celsius in Sylhet while the lowest one was 25Cin Nikli.

The sunrise on Tuesday is likely at 5:11am while the sunset is likely at 6:48pm in Dhaka.

Bangladesh on Monday entered into monsoon season by greeting the first day of 'Asharh'-- the first month of the season.
