When it comes to home appliances, a refrigerator is one of the most essential items in any kitchen. In our busy lives, it is inconvenient to buy groceries or prepare food every day. To keep our veggies and food fresh for an extended period, and also to keep our drinks and yogurt cold, a refrigerator is indispensable.

Buying a refrigerator is a dilemma good on may cost big money and the power consumption of refrigerators is high as well. So, while choosing a refrigerator, it is vital to consider power efficiency first. This is where 5-star refrigerators come into play.

Refrigerators are ranked from a minimum 1-star to maximum 5-star, signifying how power efficient these units are. Refrigerators with 1-star label costs way lesser than a 5-star refrigerator, but energy consumption is that much higher. Consuming lesser power, the 5-star rated refrigerators are more environment friendly.

The primary objective of these ‘star’ label is to make consumers aware of which refrigerators emit lesser greenhouse gas and other contamination. Through this label, one can easily compare the energy efficiency of the products they are willing to buy. And as in many other countries, Bangladesh Standards & Testing Institution (BSTI) also ranks the refrigerators available in the local market depending on how efficient compressors are to reduce the electricity bills.

The higher efficiency of the inverter compressor ensures lesser electricity consumption in the 5-star refrigerators. The speed of the compressor is regulated automatically depending on the room temperature or the quantity of food inside the refrigerator. Compressors with inverter technology, auto-shut when there is no necessity, helping save energy. But it does not compromise the cooling performance, helping to keep the quality and taste of the food intact inside the refrigerator.

Because of high functioning compressors and improved insulation, a 5-star refrigerator is often a little expensive. Nevertheless, the efficiency of an inverter compressor is double than a non-inverter compressor that helps save up to 50 per cent electricity. Therefore, in a matter of months, the extra cost that was put to buy a 5-star refrigerator will be recovered by savings in the electricity charges, while one gets a technological marvel in the kitchen.

Samsung has been producing refrigerators for a long while. Recently all the categories of Samsung refrigerators, including frost and no-frost, were awarded 5-star rating by the BSTI. The range of refrigeration units offers a variety of benefits to the customers.
