Global job market opened for local IT professionals

A Japanese IT company has recently recruited some 21 Bangladesh IT professionals through newly introduced international standard IT engineers examination (ITEE), said a press release

The ITEE opened door for IT professionals of the country in the global job market.

The ITEE is similar to a national standardised examination of Japan for IT professionals presently recognised by 12 Asian countries. Some 0.5 million to 0.6 million IT students and IT professionals attend it every year.

According to the press release of Japan International Cooperation Agency (JICA) on Wednesday, Framgia, Vietnam based Japanese IT company, recruited M Dastagir Husain and M Asiful Haque, who passed the ITEE examination last year.

So far, a total of 83 Bangladeshi IT professionals passed in last four ITEE examinations held between 2013 and 2015. 

Bangladesh IT-engineers Examination Centre (BD-ITEC) under Posts, Telecommunications and Information Technology ministry introduced the examination in the country last year under a project titled, ‘Capacity Building on ITEE Management’ with the help of JICA.

The objective of introducing ITEE in the country is to give international branding to Bangladesh IT professionals to get international jobs around the globe.

"After almost two years of introducing ITEE in Bangladesh, now the ITEE passed Bangladeshi IT graduates have started to get international job. It's good to see that the local IT professionals are getting fruit of our efforts here," Hideo Hoya, chief advisor of JICA-ITEE Project said in the press release.

Akihiro Shoji JICA-ITEE project coordinator said Bangladesh achieved IT Professionals Examination Council (ITPEC) membership on September last that gives authority to the country to hold ITEE here officially simultaneously with other ITPEC member countries (Malaysia, Mongolia, Myanmar, the Philippines, Thailand and Vietnam) twice in a year. 

The next ITEE exam will be held on 25 October next in the country.
