I like to score quickly: Sabbir
In a recent chat with the ICC, Bangladesh batsman Sabbir Rahman cleared his role in Bangladesh's bid for the ICC World Cup 2019. The right-handed batsman said he is all set to score as quickly as possible at the lower of the order, reports UNB.
Bangladesh supposed to participate in two warm-up games against Pakistan and India. The first game against Pakistan was washed out due to persistent rain. Now, the Tigers are now facing India at Cardiff at 3:30pm (BST).
Sabbir said they are a bit of disappointed as the first warm-up game was washed out. At the same time, he expressed the hope that the match against India is important for the Tigers, and they are upbeat to face them.
"We're taking it match by match. My role is to play at number six, seven or eight. I like to score quickly and I'll try to make sure that we can put runs on the board as a team in the later overs," Sabbir told the ICC.
"We expect Tamim Iqbal to bat for 40 overs and if there is a good wicket, I can make it a bigger score. Our aim is to win the World Cup. If we play good cricket, it will be a successful tournament for us," he further said.
Sabbir kicked off his ODI career back in 2014. Till the date, he represented Bangladesh in 61 ODIs and scored 1219 runs with a ton and five fifties. Sabbir is yet to show his prowess as a match winner in spite of having the good skill to do that.
However, the 27-year-old batsman is always considered one of the best stroke-makers in Bangladesh by captain Mashrafe Bin Mortaza.
Besides playing 61 ODIs, Sabbir participated in 11 Tests and 41 T20Is.
