Bangladesh Under-19 cricket team will take on mighty India on Thursday in the second semi-final of the ACC Under-19 Asia Cup at Sharjah Cricket Stadium, reports BSS.
The first semi-final between Pakistan and Sri Lanka will be held on the same day at Dubai. The final will be held on the first day of New Year in Dubai.
The Asia Cup is seen as the preparation platform for the teams of the ICC Under-19 World Cup. Bangladesh is the defending champions of the Under-19 World Cup.
The Tigers beat India to become champions for the first time in the ICC event. Bolstered by that victory which earned the country its first laurel in men's cricket, the young Tigers will take on India tomorrow, said captain Rakibul Hasan.
Besides, Bangladesh U19 team has recently become champions in a triangular series in India, beating India A team and B team, which will also boost their confidence, Rakibul said.
Bangladesh crushed Kuwait by 227 runs and whacked Nepal past by 154 runs before their third game in the group phase against Sri Lanka was abandoned after one of the field umpires was tested Covid-19 positive. The two big margin victories basically gave them the edge in the net-run-rate and made them group champions.
