Bangladesh team in Kolkata to play FIFA, AFC qualifiers

Bangladesh National Football team reached the capital of India's West Bengal state Kolkata on Friday afternoon to play their away match of the joint Qualification (Round-1) for FIFA World Cup 2022 and AFC Asian Cup 2023 against India.

The match will be held on 15 October at Salt Lake Stadium in Kolkata, reports UNB.

The team held their first training session at the practice ground of Salt Lake Stadium Saturday morning, said Bangladesh Football Federation (BFF).

After arriving Kolkata, Bangladeshi booters hold a 30 minutes swimming and recovery session at JW Marriott Hotel.

Bangladesh were put in Group E of FIFA, AFC Joint Qualification along with Qatar, Oman, neighbouring India and Afghanistan.

The men in red and green started their campaign with a 0-1 goal defeat against Afghanistan in their first away match in the Tajik capital Dushanbe on 10 September and conceded a 0-2 defeat against Asian Champions Qatar in their first home match at a packed Bangabandhu National Stadium (BNS) on Thursday.

In the remaining group matches, Bangladesh will play Oman on 14 November in Oman, Afghanistan on 26 March next year in Bangladesh, Qatar on 31 March in Qatar, India on 4 June in Bangladesh and Oman on 9 June in Bangladesh.
