Steps will be taken to investigate and action will be taken accordingly if the allegations are lodged against the Jahangirnagar University (JU) administration with any specific information, said deputy minister for education Mohibul Hassan Chowdhoury Nowfel on Wednesday, reports UNB.

"Legal action will be taken if the allegations against the university administration are found to be true. However, the complainants will face action if the allegations are not proved," he said while addressing a press briefing at the International Mother Language Institute in the city.

A deadlock has been created at Jahangirnagar University as a faction of students and teachers has been on a movement demanding the removal of their vice-chancellor Farzana Islam on corruption charges.

Defying authorities' directives to leave the campus following the shutdown of the university for an indefinite period, they continued their demonstrations on Tuesday to press for their demand.

The demonstrating students also vowed not to vacate their dormitories.
