Int’l conference begins at DU

Dhaka University's Faculty of Business Studies (FBS) will hold an international conference on business and economics on Tuesday, according to UNB.

The conference with the theme 'shaping the future through inclusive development' will bring together a group of high-level stakeholders including representatives from government, private sector, development sector, academic and researchers from different countries.

Around 75 academicians and researchers from the United States, Canada, Australia, Japan, Indonesia, Malaysia, Thailand and India will present their research findings in the conference.

A roundtable discussion on “Inclusive Growth for Shared Prosperity” will be held at the conference on FBS premises from 5:00pm to 7:00pm where state minister for finance and planning MA Mannan will be present as the chief guest, said a press release.

Senior secretary Shamsul Alam, member of General Economic Division, Ministry of Planning, will be the special guest while professor Atiur Rahman, former governor, Bangladesh Bank will moderate the discussion.

The purpose of the discussion event is to combine experts and representatives from various sectors to have fruitful discussions and solicit opinions and recommendations on how to make all the economic participants grow together.

The inaugural ceremony of the conference will be held at Nabab Nawab Ali Chowdhury Senate Bhaban at 9:30am to 12:00pm.

DU vice-chancellor (VC) Md Akhtaruzzaman will be present as the chief guest at the inauguration ceremony while VC of United States International University, Kenya Paul Tiyambe Zeleka and VC of Al Ain University of Science and Technology, UAE Ghaleb A El Refae will be present as the special guests.

Professor of Tufts University, USA Partha S Ghosh will present the keynote speech while DU FBS dean professor Shibli Rubayat-Ul-Islam will deliver a welcome speech.
