82,500 students get primary scholarships

PRIMARYA total of 82,500 students have got scholarships in the Primary Education Completion (PEC) Examinations held in 2018, reports UNB.

State minister for primary and mass education Md Zakir Hossain came up with the information while talking to reporters at the secretariat on Sunday.

Among the total scholarship recipients, 33,000 students got scholarship under talent pool while 49,500 under general category.

The list of scholarship recipients is available on the primary education department website www.dpe.gov.bd.

He said the scholarship was introduced to flourish talents among students and prevent drop out.

Recipients of talent pool scholarships will receive Tk 300 per month while those under general category will get Tk 225 per month. They will get the scholarships for three years from class VI to VIII, state minister added.

Primary Education Completion (PEC) and Ebtedayee Examinations-2018 were held in November, 2018 across the country with the participation of 2652,896 examinees. Around 97.59 percent students came out successful in the examinations.
