Jahangirnagar University is taking steps to bolster security to curb crimes on the campus.

The proctorial team on Sunday requested vice-chancellor Farzana Islam to take several measures in this regard.

The measures include - constructing gates at three unprotected entrances on the western side, arranging lights at dark places, inspecting vehicles used by outsiders at the four entrances near Dhaka-Aricha Highway, installing CCTV cameras at important points and raiding the residential halls.

Although the campus is a secured area, crimes such as theft and robbery had taken place.

Acting proctor ASM Firoz ul Hasan said they have decided to take the measures for security of teachers and students and the VC has directed to complete the work in a short time.

"We're trying our best to keep the campus secured. Various government agencies are also working to prevent the rise of evil forces," he said.
