The High Court (HC) has extended the bail of BNP chairperson Khaleda Zia to one year in five separate cases filed on charges of defamation and killing people by setting fire to bus.
Two different benches of the HC passed the order against the pleas filed by Khaleda Zia separately seeking the extension of her bail period.
Lawyer Kaisar Kamal stood for Khaleda Zia in the court.
Kaisar Kamal told Prothom Alo that a HC bench comprised of justices Mohammad Abdul Hafiz and Mohammad Ali on Tuesday extended the bail of Khaleda Zia to one year in four defamation cases, three filed in Dhaka and one in Narail.
On the other hand, another HC bench of justices AKM Asaduzzaman and Kazi Md Ejarul Haque Akondo granted the extension of the former prime minister bail period to one year in a sabotage case filed in Cumilla.
