Actress, director Mohsina gets married

Actor and stage director Mohsina Akhter has got married. The wedding ceremony was carried out at a mosque on Madani Avenue in Dhaka this Friday. Her husband, Irfan Uddin, is a cinematographer and theatre artiste.

Both are members of Spardha: Independent Theatre Collective. They became friends while working together on stage, and the relationship later led to marriage.

Mohsina told Prothom Alo today, “He is a sensitive person. The way I am and the way I see people and society, he sees them in much the same way. So we have decided to embark on this journey together.”

Irfan Uddin has worked as cinematographer on several productions, including ‘Binodini’, ‘The Tale of Saad’ and ‘The Sunflower’. He has also acted in the plays ‘Jibon O Rajnoitik Bastobota’, ‘4.48 Mantras’ and ‘Ami Birangona Bolchi’. Irfan is expected to go to the University of Greenwich in London soon to study film production.

Mohsina gained recognition in 2017 for her role as Fatima in the play ‘Rizwan’, directed by Syed Jamil Ahmed. The following year, Spardha: Independent Theatre Collective was formed under the leadership of Syed Jamil Ahmed. Mohsina and Irfan are founding members of the theatre group.

Mohsina has acted in several plays, including ‘Jibon O Rajnoitik Bastobota’, ‘4.48 Montras’, ‘Bismaykar Sabkichu’ and ‘Ami Birangona Bolchi’. Alongside acting on stage, she has also directed plays.

She has directed several productions, including ‘Tobu-O Jage Uthi’, ‘Indur-Bilai Khel’, ‘Sheshrokkha’ and ‘Waiting for Lefties’. Outside theatre, Mohsina has also appeared in the film ‘Jaya Aar Sharmin’.
