Imam assaulted for using mikes for sehri alert
The imam of a local mosque was beaten by an expatriate youth in Cumilla's Burichang upazila early Friday for calling Muslims using mikes to take sehri, which, he alleged, disturbed his sleep, reports UNB.
The injured is Md Masum, imam of Sadakpur Central Jam-e mosque under Pirjatrapur union.
Md Nurul Islam, president of mosque managing committee, said Masum started to call Muslims over mikes from 3:00am for taking sehri.
Alleging that the loud sound disturbed his sleep, Saudi expatriate Mosharraf, 30, son of Md Barek of a house adjacent to the mosque, beat the imam, leaving him injured.
Hearing screams, locals rushed in and rescued the imam.
