Prime minister Sheikh Hasina on Saturday inaugurated the Badda U-loop (North U-loop) under Hatirjheel integrated development project, which is expected to ease traffic movement, reports UNB.

After the inauguration, the prime minister toured the U-loop in her vehicle.

This U-loop will ease vehicular movement from Pragati Sarani, Aftab Nagar and Rampura towards Malibagh area.

As part of the Hatirjheel integrated development project, there were plans to build two U-loops in Rampura and Badda areas to help passengers rid of the nagging traffic gridlock.

The U-loop in Rampura was opened on 25 June 2016.

The Badda U-loop will contribute largely to easing traffic congestions the way the Rampura U-loop did, project officials said.

According to them, the Badda U-loop, which cost approximately Tk 330 million to be built, is 458.50-metre long and 10-metre wide.

With the Badda U-loop inauguration, the roads from Merul Badda to Kuril are now free from U-turns.

Besides, vehicles bound for Rampura, Banasree or Aftabnagar can change their lanes easily.
