Noted writer and Shahjalal University of Science and Technology (SUST) professor Muhammed Zafar Iqbal said on Monday that he believes quota reform is needed to protect the honour of the freedom fighters.

"The quota ratio in our country is not appropriate," he said.

The SUST teacher made the observation while talking to reporters at Dr MA Wazed Miah IICT Building on the campus.

"There has been anger among people over freedom fighters' quota. Freedom fighters, their children and their families are being humiliated. We must remain alert so that no one can disrespect them. Quota reform is necessary to secure the honour of freedom fighters," he added.

He also said that the quota ratio should certainly be rational and consistent.

The writer also condemned the police attack on protesting students at Shahbagh in Dhaka.
