Truck-autorickshaw crash claims 4 lives

At least four people were killed as a truck and an auto-rickshaw collided head-on in Kaliprashad area in Bhairab on Tuesday, reports UNB.

The deceased include auto-rickshaw driver Sanaullah, Monwar Hossain, 35, Masud Mia, 42 and Sajib Mia, 47. All of the victims are from Paizanpur and Kailag villages in Bajitpur upazila of Bhairab.

The accident took place when a Kishoreganj-bound truck collided with the auto-rickshaw at Gazirtek area around 11:00 am leaving the auto-rickshaw driver dead on the spot and injuring five others, police said quoting witnesses.

The injured were rushed to the upazila health complex from where three severely injured were referred to Dhaka Medical College Hospital (DMCH) for better treatment.

On way to DMCH, the trio died, said AKM Kaiser, officer-in-charge of Bhairab highway police station.

The bodies would be handed over to their relatives after autopsies, he added.
