Madrasah superintendent gets life term jail for raping teacher

A Chattogram court on Tuesday awarded life term imprisonment to a madrasah superintendent in Satkania upazila for raping an assistant teacher in 2016, reports BSS.

Judge of Chattogram Women and Children Repression Prevention Tribunal-4, Zamiul Haidar passed the order around noon, convicting Maulana Nizam Uddin, superintendent of Ummul Kura Dakhil Madrasah in Satkania thana of the district.

The court also fined the convict Tk 50,000.

According to the prosecution, Nizam Uddin called the teacher at his office room after the class around 4.00pm on 3 January, 2016. He then raped her in his office and threatened her not to disclose the matter.

The following day, the victim filed a case with Satkania police station against Nizam Uddin.

Police submitted the charge sheet on 19 February, 2018. The court delivered the verdict after six witnesses testified before the judge, said the PP.
