Teenage girl raped in Dhaka railway station, 5 arrested

A 17-year-old girl was ganged-rape in the Turag Community Train on platform 1 of Kamalapur Railway Station in Dhaka on Friday night, police said.

Police arrested five men following the incident. They are Naim, 25, Sumon, 21, Nazmul, 25, Anwar, 20, and Roman Prakash, 22.

The suspects work as cleaners at a private organisation and a suspect named Imran is on the run, according to police.

Speaking to Prothom Alo, Dhaka railway police station officer-in-charge Ferdaus Ahammed Bishwas said the teenage girl escaped to Dhaka from her home in Netrokona after she became angry with her parents and she was gang-raped at Kamalapur.

The girl has been admitted to the one-stop-crisis centre of Dhaka Medical College, the police official added.
