Flood death toll reaches 152

The death toll from the massive floods in northeastern regions of the country has reached 152, said the Directorate General of Health Services’ (DGHS) health emergency operation center and control room.

Mymensingh division saw the highest number of deaths as 80 people died there. 36 died in Netrokona district alone.

A total of 59 deaths were recorded in the Sylhet division with 28 in Sunamganj.

The DGHS control room keeps records of death from diarrhoea, respiratory diseases, lightning strikes, snakebites, and drowning in flood-hit regions.

According to the control room, a total of 16,860 people in the flood-hit areas have suffered from various illnesses from 17 May to 7 July.
