No entry to and exit from Chattogram city: CMP

As the coronavirus situation has started deteriorating in the country, Chittagong Metropolitan Police (CMP) on Monday night restricted the entry to and exit from Chattogram city, reports UNB.

None will be allowed to enter or leave the city from 10pm on Monday until further notice, said a CMP press release.

Soon after the announcement of the restriction, police closed the City Gate, Shah Amanat Bridge, Kalurghat Bridge, Kaptai Road and Oxygen Road.

CMP additional deputy commissioner Mohammad Abu Bakkar Siddique said they took the decision in the interest of people.

However, all emergency services and vehicles carrying medical equipment, export goods and other consumer goods will remain out of the purview of the restriction, he added.

Police check-posts have been set up at all the entry points of the city and its important points inside to properly enforce the restriction, Bakkar added.

On Sunday, the police headquarters announced that none can enter or leave the capital city of Dhaka.

Bangladesh on Monday reported three more deaths taking the number to 12.

Besides, 35 more people were infected with coronavirus in the last 24 hours, raising the number to 123.
